Since their formation in 1990, Converge have been widely regarded as one of the founding forces behind both metalcore and mathcore, while drawing inspiration from hardcore punk, metal, noise and beyond.
With landmark releases such as Jane Doe, Axe To Fall and All We Love We Leave Behind, the Massachusetts outfit has built a formidable catalogue defined by raw emotion, technical brilliance and crushing intensity. Frontman Jacob Bannon and guitarist Kurt Ballou helped shape the sound of modern metalcore, yet Converge have always remained fiercely committed to their own uncompromising vision.
Renowned for their chaotic, cathartic and relentlessly energetic live shows, the band continues to sound as urgent and vital today as they did more than three decades ago. With Hum Of Hurt, the follow-up to Love Is Not Enough, Converge once again prove why they remain one of the most influential bands in heavy music.
Named after a mysterious low-frequency hum often described as both inescapable and unsettling, the album channels that same sense of tension and unease. The result may well be the heaviest record Converge have ever made: lean, uncompromising and stripped of all excess.
